Wood is more than a name: our wood-fired oven is at the heart of it all, mustering a dynamic menu of small-plate, American fare, made with the best ingredients the season has to offer. Though the dishes regularly change, they are defined by a few constants: meat is butchered in-house from humanely-raised animals; vegetables are drawn from family farms like Green Acres (North Judson, IN), Three Sisters (Kankakee, IL), and Spence Farm (Fairbury, IL); herbs are picked directly from Wood’s private garden; and all pasta and sausage are freshly made, straight from the Wood kitchen to the plate. We bring the same attention to quality and taste to Backwoods, our late-night Belgian fry pick-up window. Made from hand-cut Kennebec potatoes, twice-fried in the traditional Belgian style, and served with your choice of a dozen different house-made sauces, these aren’t your average fries.

From the occasional drinker to the dedicated drinking enthusiast, our selection of vintage-inspired cocktails, craft beer, and wine from around the world has something for everyone to enjoy. Standard spirits can be found alongside a selection from small-batch distilleries such as Chicago’s own Koval and Wisconsin’s Death’s Door, while stand-by American brews take their place amongst a hand-picked selection of Midwestern and international craft beers.

Meet our Chef

Executive Chef Ashlee Aubin, most recently chef de partie at Alinea Restaurant and formerly of Home Bistro and Zealous, brings years of experience and culinary innovation to the Wood kitchen. Chef Aubin strongly believes that using only the freshest, most locally available ingredients not only produces better tasting meals, but also builds a sense of collective community and responsibility. The proof is in the plates: foodies and casual diners alike will remember his dishes for their exceptional flavor, quality, and execution.

Mixology

Cocktail Originator J. P. Wondrely firmly believes there’s an occasion for everything, and the variety of Wood’s drink selection certainly reflects that. As a bartender, Wondrely’s signature is utilizing classic spirits and flavors in uncommon ways, putting a modern spin on traditional drink recipes. His background in fashion also brings a distinct element of style to Wood’s cocktail menu, evident in every aspect of his design--from tongue-in-cheek titles, to elegant, house-made infusions, to the carefully crafted presentation of every drink.
